Go Gunners...
This week has not changed a lot as far as title pursuit in EPL is concerned. But nevertheless this week’s results have confirmed some notions. First of all is Liverpool’s title pursuit is over for all practical purpose after they lost 3 goals to 1 against Fulham. Another confirmation is that ‘Deja Vu‘ feeling among Gunners after we dropped points against West Ham, is uncalled for and this season our Boys are gonna show that they have become Men now.
An 11Gunners insight into this weekend’s football..
Tottenham was taken to cleaners by us yesterday@TheEmirates and did we love it?? Hell Yaaaaa. It was reconfirmation of the fact that who is the real boss of North London (as if a reconfirmation was needed in the first place). Van: ‘The Man‘ came to party in a big way and Cesc as usual was ‘Fab‘. This season, Arsenal is the side to beat. And with this kinda team only 1 team can beat Arsenal and that is Arsenal itself. It was proved in the match against the Red Devils and when we dropped points against West Ham.
Liverpool missed the title by a whisker last season and everyone expected them to go one notch higher to lift the title this season. Sadly for them things are not looking bright. They are out of Carling Cup, thanks to Merida & Co. They are virtually out of Champions League, thanks to Lyon. To make a come back in the Champions League they have to beat Lyon away from home which is a herculean task in itself. But, Scousers have coined a phrase ‘Bouncebackability‘ which typifies their character and 1 should not be surprised if they manage to get the better of Lyon away from home. And to top it all this EPL season has been a disaster for them.
Chelsea had a good day at the office and they defeated Bolton with the same scoreline that they did in mid week against the same opponents in the League Cup. They were their usual self and this team is a well oiled machine. I call them machine because they play in a very monotonous way. There is nothing refreshing about them. Their style of play is typical. Someone from the defence plays a long ball. Then others join in to win it and as and when they win it they take a shot. There is no exquisite passing or imagination, unlike Arsenal.
Man Utd. defeated Blackburn 2 goals to nil. Berba & Rooney scored. Berba has not been as effective for them till now as much they expected that he would. But this player is special for sure. And if Devils have to terrorise the oppositions this season then Berba will have to play an important role. At the moment they don’t look good without Giggs and it is unfair on their part if they expect him to perform week in week out at this stage of his career. Though he can surprise.
All in all this week was a good week for the Gunners. We just need to keep up the good work and the title will eventually land in our lap. Amen.
