Dutch Delight!

Dutch Delight!

Robin Van Persie or RVP, as we better know him, has been a Gunner for quiet some now. But only last season he found himself in the ‘Red and White’s‘ like he should have seasons back.

Wenger paid tribute to him a few days back, now it’s our turn..

Injuries and lack of fitness had been his nemesis for ages and it was only a matter of time before he got the better of them and lived upto his potential. And boy didn’t he do that last term with 20 goals under his belt. He is now at the peak of his abilities and having exorcised the ghosts of match fitness, he looks more than capable enough to lead Arsenal’s ominous line in the years to come.

First lets rewind for you what ‘The Professor‘ had to say for this Dutch Delight‘:

“I think he’s a Van Basten type. By which I mean he’s a technical centre forward. He has that classy first touch, sharp movement and a short back-lift.”

“I always thought he was more a first striker than second striker and I must say I love him there because he has a brain. He can play others in and he can score. His movement is intelligent around the box and if we score a lot of goals a big part is down to him.”

“Look at the one he scored [against Birmingham on Saturday]. You can say it was a bit lucky but you need a specialist soft touch to control the ball in that situation. With a normal player, the ball goes five yards away but with his second touch he puts it straight back on his left leg and scores.”

The above are testimony enough for the bundles of talent and potential this guy has. C’mon comparing anyone to ‘The Van Basten‘ takes some beating. Remember Van Basten happened to be King Henry’s idol in his formative years. Now you know what are we talking about. He was a ‘Legend‘ no less.

Meanwhile Robin has come out in public and has iterated his desire ti win the League this term. Recent blips by our fellow rivals got his attention as he said the following:

“We’re very encouraged by other teams dropping points because when you look at last weekend, Liverpool lost three points, Chelsea lost.”

“In our last eight games, we’ve won six so it’s looking good for us. As long as we stay consistent against the smaller teams. We need to keep winning the three points against them.”

“Last season we had some bad spells. We had four draws as well back to back so we have to avoid that.”

Well he is fit, in form and raring to go. Lets hope the ‘Dutch Apprentice‘ (Dennis shall remain the ‘Dutch Master‘ for now!) lives up to the billing in the times to come. Amen to that..
