2-2: Are We Paying The Price??

TweetThey earned their share That familiar feeling of being “What Could Have Been” is engulfing me right now. We were cruising, rather effortlessly at one point of time only to be done in by some irresponsible defending and inexplicable refreeing. The final score is a disppointing 2-2 draw,...

Let the good times roll...

Let the good times roll...

Yesterday’s rout of Tottenham was our 11th game Unbeaten and the signs are ominous this season. This team is looking good for many more. Considering that we are still not full strength there is a lot more to come on the table from our side. We are comfortably placed in every competition and who knows that this season might be “The One”. We are called “Barcelona Lite” in Europe. I have a gut feeling that a role reversal is due after this season.

An 11Gunners assessment on the 11 Games unbeaten so far..

Carling Cup tie against scousers was a joy to watch in the midweek. There is no better sight than a young Gunner (relatively) conjuring up those magical moments. I liked the squad that Wenger chose to play against The Reds. This squad had an ideal mixture of youth and experience. I feel that this strategy is much better than the strategy that we had before where we used to field a squad full of green horns. This latest strategy allows the youngsters to learn much more from the seniors around them and there is less of a risk in case of a things not going our way. Seniors can guide them in a much better way and take some pressure off their young shoulders. Merida and Eastwood looked great among all the youngsters on the field. Merida in particular was refreshing. His technique is flawless but unlike other Arsenal players he has a great physical presence to go with it as well. I have a feeling that he is a Ballack kinda player. I feel that Wenger can utilise him in a better way as a holding midfielder in the current squad. He will do much better than what Song is doing right now.

In Champions league, we have done quiet well and we just need 1 more win to make sure that we go into next round. In fact, we could have done so in the last match itself, had we played in a better way in the injury time. We play AZ again in the mid week and this time @ Emirates. We wil settle it beyond doubt this time. This could be our season in the Champions League. We are due for some success in this competition considering the quality of game we play. In the midweek Arshavin said that we are just 2 players short of Barca, the current champions. I agree with him and need some reinforcement in the defence this January. First on our shopping list should be a quality defensive midfielder.

Lets talk about Premiership now. We have just beaten our bitter rivals down the seven sister lane badly and suddenly there is a soothing smell all over the place. Keane believed that they are now as good as Gunners. It was a perfect time to put this down their throat that “WE ARE THE BOSS”. Tottenham should restrict itself to Europa Cup and stop day dreaming. We have looked the best side in Premiership so far. Even when we lost to Man Utd, we were better played better football. When we dropped points against West Ham, it was not that they played exquisitely. It was just that we lost our way late into the game. Title beckons..

On a nutshell, I believe that this season is gonna end the 4 year drought that we are facing. And just the way Barca have been stupendous after their 6 year drought, we too will rise again. Good times are set to roll. Calling all fellow gooners to let us know their gut feeling about this season.

Go Gunners….
