My Time Is 'Now'
Niklas Bendtner has come out in the open and has claimed his desire to be a ‘Top Gunner‘ someday. The Danish forward is just 21 and has time on his side. The talent is very much their, just that he needs to harness it in equanimity. News just filtered in that Bendtner is out for 4 weeks following a groin injury he sustained in the game against Tottenham Hotspurs, which the Gunners won 3-1 on the day.
11Gunners wishes Niklas a speedy recovery and kudos in his quest to become the very best..
To say Niklas has had his critics in his spell as a Arsenal player, would be an understatement. He has had many and still has. The tall strikes from Copenhagen has been a rank outsider thus far in the ‘Arsenal’ scheme of things. If it were not for Arsene Wenger, he would have been long gone for sure. But the Frenchman is not called ‘The Pofessor‘ for nothing. He has been there and done that. Obviuosly, there is something about Niklas that intrigues him and makes him believe that he is one for the long run. We thought only Wenger thinks so, but surprise ‘o surprise, he has company now. Guess Who!? The man himself. Here’s Bendtner making his intentions clear:
“In my opinion I don’t know why anyone would question me? Within five years I want to be the top scorer in the Premier League and I want to be known as a world-class striker. Trust me, it will happen.”
“I look around at other players, I see my own ability and I can’t see anything that tells me it won’t happen. I’m sure people will think ‘What is he talking about?’ But as I have done before, and as I will do again, I will sit at the other end and laugh at those people when it is all done.”
Those are strong words indeed. Bravo Bendy!
Meanwhile ‘Le Prof‘ reiterated his love for Niklas when he said these:
“If you have a player who is that good he can play a number of positions, then it must be a good thing. He is a player who will improve every year.”
“Nicklas is a good size and is a very pacey player considering his size. He has an intelligent game with good vision. He needs to improve his movement and his finishing. And he will do that”
Bendtner reaffirmed the thoughts of his manager here:
“You need confidence and I have always had it. I have started this season better than I have started any other season but I know there is a lot more to come and I know the people here know that as well.”
“People love to be right even when they are wrong, don’t they? They love to say ‘No, no, no’ when I tell them where I will end up.”
“Then, when I make it, they will change it to ‘Oh, I always said that would happen.’ Well, you wait and see. And the doubters can say what they want.”
All we can say is, height and confidence, are two things, this lad has a plenty of! All the best Niklas, we are watching you..
