I concede- You rule Prof!!
I guess I will have to wait a lifetime to see Spurs get the better of Arsenal in the league. I dont mind that one bit. This evening it was reaffirmed as to which team rules the Northern part of London, if there was any doubt that is. We crushed Spurs in a one sided London Derby and made further inroads towards the top of the table. As for high flying and upbeat Spurs, better luck next time.
11Gunners reviews our convincing victory over our fiercest rivals-
Arsene Wenger had never lost a derby game in his spell at Arsenal and it would take a special effort from Spurs to change that. Simply put, today was not that day. The first and foremost problem was with their attitude. Only one team had actually come out looking for a win, only one team was actually looking to go forward and score goals, another team was living on the hopes of capitalising on errors and mistakes.
They seemed to be doing all right as they defended with grit and determination and never allowed us space in the final third. We seemed fluent in our passing but the finishing missed the perfection. Fabregas had a greeat chance in the first half but was athletically denied by Gomes, Spurs never really fashioned enough to trouble Almunia at the other end.
11 seconds changed everything. A cross from the right by Sagna found RVP who slotted home from clsoe range. The game had barely restarted when Cesc Fabregas exemplified why exactly he is one of the best midfileders in the world today. he simply picked the ball, outsmarted a few defenders and powered one past Gomes, who was helpless this time.
Lightning doesn’t strike twice did someone say, for poor Spurs it did! It shook them literally and they never recovered.
We had learnt our lessons well enough from the draw at West Ham and any hopes of a comeback were grounded when a horrendous error of judgement by Ledley King setup our third of the night. The writing was pretty much on the wall, a dejected Spurs had to endure while we fiddled with their defence for quite some time. Eduardo looked uncharacteristically out of shape as he squandered two simple opportunities, 5-0 would have been some embarrasment.
However, Spurs will have to wait for another day to maybe come up woth a miracle to beat us, they move further down while we climb our way up, Football is a sweet game sometimes isn’t it!!
We are all proud Gooners today! Cheers..
